Week One Nanowritmo update

So the novel this year is the prequel to the 2012 Nano novel, "To Waltz with Shadows" and is based on Moon, how he became King and his meeting Nightshade.  More is revealed about her in this novel too, ps that can lead onto the first encounter with Umbra which is purely Nightshade and Reave.

I have found while writing this novel that Moon left out quite a lot from his diary about his personal life on the road, for instance, the first quest helping the people in Bogdan Marsh, he's already lost his virginity to the leader of the village, namely a female by the name of Aurora. They have a relationship while he stays there and they part with him saying he will return when he's in the area. I wonder what Star would have made of that.  And I get the feeling he has opened up in the world of women since as he has flirted with the mayors daughter and wife. I thinks it's a good idea to have added this about him as his diary made him out to be such a goody two shoes, he has to have something about him, some kind of secret. Not that he would live up to Reave's calibar, sleeping with anyone and everyone who he finds appealing. (As we know, or those of you who have read the first novel, Reave only finds one other, apart form him self beautiful and that's Nightshade.)

So far I have caught up after a sketchy start, I'm doing one more push this after noon to tip. My word count over the graph.

So, that's about it for the moment, more updates will follow like,last year, gosh I hate touch screens I really do.  Where as last year they were new characters to introduce to you, this year it's characters you know, well the main ones anyway

Chapter one: The beating of his heart

Sweat ran down his brow.  He could hear his breath fall lightly as his eyes scanned the area through the tiny crack in the door.  He wanted to breath cool air, not this stuffy closet air.

He had to remain cool.  He had to keep his mind of the mission at hand. He would never deviate from his target.  

A door opened.  A single male and two females walked into the room.  He was sure they were ladies of the night or dancers from the targets club.

The champain ran, music played as the females slowly undressed.  The target becoming aware of their bodies as he, he waited for the right moment.

A phone rang, the females were evicted from the room with no grace as the target shouted down his phone.

He let a smile slip as he hung his phone up and slowly opened the door, the target looking out of his mansion window.

His breath fell silent as his smart shoes fell on the carpeted floor. He could ask for nothing better as he withdrew his silenced pistol from his side.

"What the," the target turned around, the only words able to pass his lips before he pulled the trigger. The target fell to the floor, a single shot to the head. 

Silence. Nothing. His breath fell calmly, re replaced his gun and walked towards to open window. He did not turn back, he did not feel remorse, he felt nothing as he closed his eyes and heard one thing.

A soft gentle thump of his own heart beating in the silence of the hit.

"Target eliminated." He breathed into his own phone, he stepped onto the windows ledge and looked up, it was a beautiful night.

So I had this idea.....

 I know it's been a while since I last blogged, sorry. So I have decided I will write a new story on the go, instead of a blog here and there, I will write a story for you, if you have something you would like to happen as you read it, message me and let me know.

Character Profile: Nightshade

Nightshade, the last of a long forgotten tribe, the Noctori.

The Noctori are a tribe of Moon Worshippers, their nocturnal life style gives them a rather pail appearence, their skin marble white in the sun.  Many had never seen the sun rise, only a few Elders know the light of the sun.

Another defining feature no Noctori can hide are the markings on their bodies, from the feet to the side temple of their face, an almost animal like black markings run, black like a tattoo, but natural like a birth mark, it's lost how or why the Noctori have them.

The Noctori are not malevolent in anyway, they are peaceful people, their beliefs are the moon gave them life, that moon was the mother of their tribe.  Strangely enough, the Noctori have but one fear, their fear is of Umbra.  Umbra is a dark entity, the king of darkness with the power to regenerate, to have a rebirth when ever he is defeated.

An unfortunate event whipped out all but one Noctori.

Nightshade was born to un married young maiden of the tribe, she was not considered to be beautiful by the Elders, she was never given a mate and was subsequently shunned by her tribe when Nightshade was born. Only her mother stayed with her,she protected her daughter and granddaughter until the night she died. 

Once alone Nightshades mother became more distant from the tribe, nightshade herself was nine the wiser to her mothers strange behaviour. She was enjoying her life, although she was unsure why she was shunned from her own kind. Instead she decides to explore and have fun in the nearby forest.  Nightshade meets a young human boy called Reave, unknown to the nearby village and Noctori they become friends and for many years they form a close bond. 

Life at home is peaceful for Nightshade once she turns 16 as she is seen as an outcast so no one is given to her as a mate. Unknown to her, her mother has become more dark in her skin, her mood and behaviour becoming stranger.  Nightshade and Reave however have started to become close, they share their first kiss and spend the night together. It was after this night when their lives took a turn for the worse.

Nightshade and Reave spend the day together, after a good bye Nightshade returns to her home only to find flames, Shadows taking the lives of all around her. Nightshades runs to the centre of the village to find who glowing mother and a balls of darkness observing the light of the people.  Her mother tells her she is heir daughter, that this ball was Umbra, her father. Nightshade is saddened and outraged, by now she and Reave have discovered her magical power, but unknown to Nightshade she can fully destroy Umbra and send him back to the void until her gains power enough to return.  With a heavy heart Nightshade has to kill her own mother and the bodies of the people around her, the only way to defeat the Shadows.

Nightshade, now in complete dispear and confusion over what has happened she goes tot the one place she feels safe, with Reave. He takes care of her in secret, for many days she stayed in their childhood hideout until she has fully come to terms with what happened. Reave, although now in love with her and willing to leave their home for a better life, he was a coward, he feared death and what happened to Nightshade scared him.  He did not want to die.

One beautiful morning, after sharing a sunrise together, the two lovers heard voices, angry voices, they are discovered together by Reave's village. The Noctori were feared outside her forest. After heated words, Nightshade pushes Reave off the hill to the safety below and takes all the gun fire. Nightshade dies but Reave, instead of staying runs away, he leaves and doesn't return until his a fully grown adult, now with magic of his own and somehow an immortal. He burns his former home and discards his former life.

Nightshade however wakes many lifetime later to a new world , she and her new companion Moon travel together, fighting creatures until the Shadow's return.  Together Moon and Nightshade gather the greatest heros and fighters to fight the Shadows before Umbra comes to power. Together they do, Moon is made King while Nightshade decides not to become a member of the royal family. Reave did reluctantly join them, he couldn't understand why Nightshade doesn't remember him, he is heart broken but still taunts her for her attanetion. During a routine traveling mission as King, he, Reave and Nightshade are ambushed by remnants of Umbra. During the Fight, Reave's arrogance causes him to vaulter and once more, nightshade takes the blow for him. She dies in Moon's arm in the throne room.

It was not the last time she died and returned, she returned once more when Moon's children were older, his daughter called Umbra, this started a new war. His son and Nightshade team up and with others they once again have to hunt down Reave for his help. Once again they are heated, Nightshade once again sends her father back to the void and eventually she and Reave are reunited. 

they eventually got married and Nightshade was gifted with the seed of a child, this cured Reave of his immortal curse and once born, end her cycle of rebirth.

So I know it's been like march since I last posted but I have been very busy with the real world.....and unfortunately I had to stop the novel challange......POOH!!!!!!! 

I started a new job recently, well it say new, it's the same industry but a different store,Mao that's the main reason why I had to stop writing the novels.  I am however still aiming to at least have 12 novel ideas, well a few fully written and the rest written ideas.

So I'm going to write a character profile or two for you, to wet your appetite for my novels.

So as you can guess, I'm another year older! Whoohoo! Hopefully I can write out a small piece today, the synopsis is doing my head in to be sure!

I want to do a outline for Reave's past, Reave being the sexual beast in To Waltz with Shadows, how he met Nightshade, how they fell in love and how he became the man he was in the novel.

So fingers crossed I can at least write a small piece that will contribute towards this challenge, or else this will just be a blog in my litarary adventures.

Christopher Aurum/Leon Gold character progress.

So as you know the synopsis....here it's right royal doing my head in. I have managed to narrow it down, it's not quite so long so that's on advantage really if nothing else.

The Nightshade series has taken a great turn for the better, you know I have been trying to sort out Christipher/Leon character.  He's all sorted. Ow, I have written a full plot outline for him, he's to in it as much as I thought, but it works sooo well as her life partner. He's secret, he's mean,he's completely two,different people as he should be.

I think I might make a novel of just him where he starts off before the story, during and after it too, quite the lovely character to write with.  

For those of you know don't know, Christopher/Leon is a complex character that first appears in the second novel as Leon Gold, a cold, mean and down right nasty character, cursed for all time with power and the ability of not dying, just to,live with his pain. He then appears in book four as Christopher Aurum, Aurum being Latin for gold, he's a young, cute, he wants nothing more than to settle down with Kayleigh-Lou. 

So after her death in her past, Christopher Aurum turns from the kind hearted soul to the cursed state Kayleigh-Lou meets, he changes not only his appearence, his demener and entire character but his name to Leon Gold.  

I won't tell any more, I don't want to ruin it for,those of you wanting to read it, he's such a lovely,character to work with.

For march I have written a fan fiction

I just wanted to update you, I know I have been working hard on the submission for next month, but I have been writing on paper a fan fiction, I've been wanting to for Grave Encounters for a while now. Now it's finally finished in my note pad, it's long, but not epically long and to be honest I really don't want to count them until it's on the computer.

It's a third instalment where shawn rogersons character uses the internet to lure a girl into the hospital, her twin is lured too but by the hospital. So they go, male twin to take the Micky of the movies while the girl is going to meet someone she met on line.

Now what happens in Alex from the second movie comes to try and save them, but shawn rogersons character ends up really falling for the female twin. They split up within the hospital and the building makes shawn and twin think they have escaped, they end up running to his house and doing the naughty. Whoo Whoo!

Basically, everyone but the female twin escapes,the building keeps her and let's the others go. Nine months later each of them recieve a video of the femal twin in labour, their little naughty time created a child and the building has decided he will keep the female and the baby, but why no one knows, it's all in the myster of the building.  

It ends on shawn rogerson, back to full health standing outside the hospital, base ball bat I had, looking up, swearing he will go in and rescue female and his baby. He has thought of nothing else since the video.

It's just the out line of the story and I do not have any creative merit for the Alex, shawn and building characters, mine is just the twins really. Fan fiction is quite fun to write, adding your own characters to the already created characters.

Well I hope that's ok, writing a note pad fan fiction, it still counts as part of the challange

So here's my short brief

I have been researching deeper into the world of the synopsis and well, it has helped an awful lot.  So now I have two briefs, one short and one long.  My novel is kinder summed up in one sentence, it's hard to do it because there's so much going on but I have managed to pick out the high lights to put together a decent synopsis.  Eye catching if nothing else.

Here's my short brief, my novel in one sentence.

The Birth of Arcane is a fantasy fiction novel about a young woman who wants to achieve her dream of enrolling at a world famous academy, only to discover a magical truth deep within her.

The longer has a little more detail, but that's it in a nutshell,without all the frills and spills of the loner, the rival, the mishaps, magic and so on.  I wanted to add she's a reluctant hero, but it shows more so in the second novel in the series.  

So fingers crossed this new synopsis will polish up nicely, I think it will.

Where do they days go?

Hello lovies!

How are you,nice weekend? I decorated for all of the weekend myself.

As you know the write a thin has been out on hold so I can do the final checks on Nightshade and work on my synopsis.  Let me tell you, while checks are slow but great, the synopsys is doing my nut in! Like my best friend Kassie said, in not so many words, how can one possibly condense an entire novel into a short story, because that's what they want you to do when you think about it.

Look at it this way, you spend months, maybe a year or two to make it perfect only to discover that you have to write a short essay, a short story even explaining the highlights of the novel,characters etc. fellow novelist out there will sympathize with me I'm sure, it's the bane of a writers life to be sure.  First of all, from what I can see, there are so many and different ways of writing a synopsis.  I think the best thing I have found recently is asking your chosen publisher directly what they want from a synopsis, or lookie on their website.  For example, one major player in the business wants a full synopsis, from layout, to,characters, from plot to twists to resolutions to revaluations and even the possibility of any follow on.  In other words do youmhave a series and if so a quick out line of the first possible paragraph of the next in line. (Anyone who has researched this will know whom I am directing tht part at) they are very......demanding because of their high standing in the publishing world.  I'm not sure if they mind the max number of pages for all this information. They didn't hint at anything, but of course I camt send in a twenty page synopsis, so I guess it's just common knowledge.  They also require double spacing too.

Now a smaller publisher who concentrate on schools and libraries ask only for something smaller, who,what when where why and how it ends. Something that is to the point and the expected no more that four or five pages Long.  

Then there's word count, I fall into the hot stuff barge pole category and I don't mean, wow this is the next Harry Potter.  Nope, my novel is over one hundred thousand words, it's very fifty fifty as to whether I will get main stream or not for this fact, so I have to make this synopsis the best ever.  

I'm really lucky though, I have Kassie my best friend, she has given me some great advice, she's the best because she gives me what I need.....the truth.  Friends and family will say, ohhh,that's sooo good it's amazing.  But they won't tell you if there's a real problem to save your feelings.  Grrr. I need truth.  Everyone needs a Kassie!

 My muses have been very silent recently, they seems to have given me a flood of novel ideas and said, there you go, get on with it. Hehe.

Well enough of me ranting bout the dagger in my side that is the synopsis.

A little interlude

So, the novel writing from scratch has been put on hold for now due to the exciting opportunity of submitting to Crooked Cat Publishing. 

Right now I am currently working hard on a synopsis and my gum it's harder than the novel itself, that just flowed and even wheni did stop for researching purposes, it just flowed like a river. From what I have researched, it must tell the entire story, have the main characters emotions and motivations and the resolutions to them. Well I have an outline I'm asking a few people to read it, one person who has never even read any of my Nightshade notes let alone the old revision. 

To be sure, it really is a bane of the authors life, a synopsis, blurbs are easier because it's just a taste while the synopsis.  Let's just say, you could have the greatest novel in the world but if that synopsis is rubbish the publisher won't even entertain it.  It will be thrown to one side without your manuscript even being looked at.  Kinder hard I hear you say and it is, what a lot of budding authors don't know is this is a business, publishers don't publish and distribute their books for their dream or out of charity, they do it because the story is good and will make them money.  It sucks that while our dreams are coming true, someone else is getting rich off them, whether that be a publisher or a literary agent or both. But that's life, just think of all those agents that turned down JK and Harry Potter, they must be soooo gutted.  

I named this blog an interlude, well apart from putting the new novels on hold and finishing an old one, I have decided I want to knit something. Normally all I knit is scarfs, but inhave found a nice easy patters for hand warmers. Nice. I have too much wool from when I was expecting my son you see.  I can't really knife anything complicated so this is nice. I think I will make some for my friends if it works out well.  

So I was thinking I might finish my synopsis and maybe, but only maybe put it up here. But that's only a maybe.

Submissions are open in crooked cat publications

Soo, I saw a post by crooked cat publications, they are opening a short window of submissions in April, so ik going to make sure nightshades is fully finished for,that. So March will be just editing, it will still count as a novel written, not from scratch though so maybe I can write a new one at. Letter date.

But to have my works published main steam, that would be lovely I can tell you. So fingers crossed.

Also I'm on wattpad now too, if your on have a lookie, nightshadesgrotto for nightshades things and NightshadesTear for all other novels. I made front covers too for them too, it quite fun sharing my work, people are reading them which is just what I want.

So I hope you all have a lovely weekend and keep up reading my blog. I will update you all I can with the nightshade novel. 

Romance finished

So the great news is that the romance if finally finished.  It's all very cliche but from my research I see it's how romance goes.

They all lives happily ever after type, it was quite fun writing romance, but I think i will stay with just adding romance and relationships instead of just pure romance.

I added. Little bit of a thriller element to it, I had a secret obsession character, that seemed to excite it a bit, I do like mixing genres, it makes things a lot more fun and easier to write.  Adding a little romance with fantasy, adventure and thrills, ooooh it's sooo much fun!

Well March is my birthday month, so I had a thought, I might just try and finish adding the meat to "the secret of dancing with the moon" the second in the "Nightshade" series.  You see, all eight of the books had skeletons, you fellow novel writer should know what that means, but for,those who don't. A skeleton is the basic outline of a novel, set out in chapters with the minimum of dialogue and explanation and so on.  So it's done in a way, but it's a really boring read and tells you next to nothing about the story, so I have those all done for the other seven in the series. I must admit, from novel two in the series it gets very confusing to write, I have to be very careful not to let the reader in on anything, also I need to add a new character, a really cool but mean character.

So my little lovies, I'm going to have a little rest before I start on the march novel, because it's a rather long and hard road for the "Nightshade" series I will start early.  Whoohoo!

Finally the romance has started

So I wanted to do the romance thing for February, and remember it wasn't going to well?

Thank the Goddess I finally have the romance flowing. Mits a little cliche to be honest, girl on holiday, boy sees girl, girl meets boy, boy and girl fall in love but of course there has to be something to stop them, something in the way......so I put  a mentally deranged teenager set on killing said girl so she can claim said boy for herself.

Sounds interesting no? 

No fantasy! I know, not one bit of fantasy, maybe a little fairy tale influence but all good romances should have the air of Disney about them.  Notice how ALL Disney characters experience love at first sight? It's that kind of misleading that made me think love really was at first sight and everything was little blue birds singing around you as the love hearts fill our eyes and.....I'm only kidding of course. Love at first sight is real but not that cheesy.

So next month I'm hinting sci-fi, space, aliens, so something like that.  Or maybe I will start DNA part two...which  STILL has no title, just like the first.

Well I'm off to the dentist lovies.

Something a little different

Hello,

Ok I know this is another thing off topic, but friends, they are so important in life really.

I mean, I had a lovely evening with some old work mates and it felt like we had never been apart, I would love to do that kind of thing with my best friend Kassie, a slave to the written word blogger. It just makes me sad sometimes that we live so far away, but when you have a friend in your heart they are never truely never that far away.

But it does bring me onto a point, wouldn't it be lovely to write a novel with a friend, or about a friend, or maybe two friends.  I did surgest to Kassie maybe I should write a story about pen pals, that would be lovely to be sure.

Well that's it, I'm currently working on a romance novel, pure romance with a happy ending, I have started two and I am leaning onto one really.

Music choice for writing

I Was having a rather nice chat with a fellow Wrimo last November, for those of you new to my blog, wrimos are people who take part in national novel writing month. We was talking about chosen music for writing, now I find wordless music, such as Mozart, Beethoven and so on rather relaxing and thought provoking. He, on the other hand said he loved listening to music called death metal, I think that would kill my ears not only my brain.

You see, he writes quite dark and gothic, quite angry novels, so this helped him, he found it quite by mistake you know.  Where as, for me, I like to relax and fall deep into the world I've created, weather it be a fantasy world from my mind, or some kind of mutated London. 

Then again, I do like the beautiful sound of silence with the added tap tapping of my keyboard, well laptop keys. What I'm trying to say is, it is personal preference I guess as to what music a novelist listens to, if any. It just made me wonder if Stephen King listened to scary music to really bring out the thrills and scares.  You know what I'm trying to say? 

If not don't worry, I always have random thoughts like that, and sometimes, when there's no novel on the go. I will write them here.  Random really.

It's finished!!!

So as you can tell, D.N.A is finished! Whoohoo. I started this story idea ages ago but never really finished it because of work! I'm so happy to have finished it, I made the characters better by far, they are so dynamic I'm quite proud of myself, one is so complex I don't even understand him at times.

Recently I enrolled on a writing course, writing novels for children, it's very i insightful for sure into the world of children's books, and let me tell you, children readers are so much more demanding than adults. There is so much that goes into children's books, language, plots, tones everything.

Well, February is on the way, the month of love, so I've decided to do a romantic story! Either, I'm going to rewrite a romantic vampire novel I wrote back when I was in my early teens, the early years of my writing journey when I wasn't very good at all. It was all he said, she said, they asked and so on.  My brother is very excited for me to do that. Or I can do a truely romantic classic of boy meets girl, they fall in love and so on. I have a title in mind, Stupidly Romantic, he's basically a tv face and instead of wanting expensive presents and attention he normally gives potential girlfriends, she just wants small romantic gestures, home cooked dinners, walks, things like that. I do like the idea of it but my brother is so happy for me to do the vampire on, he spent so many hours listening to my ideas and drafts, it's hard to put it off any longer. He has been waiting years.

Diilemma for sure!  Well I will have a think and get back to you for sure.

D.N.A part one

So hello everyone,

Sorry for the long gap in the blog, I guess that's life ah? I big gap between things?

So this was my idea a few days after my last blog, those of you who have seen or read my last blog would know this, but I have a story called DNA I have been mapping out for a while, and I even managed to knock out three, or was it four chapters? Well I really wanted to finish this one you see, so I have been working on this one, it's not cheating in my mind, it's a novel I started, one that is really good and what better motivation to finish than make it a part of this challenge, PLUS I can complete part two AND part three during the challenge. It's really good, I totally love it. I think I have a tiny crush on Shawn West my "baddie" he's such a bad guy, like Wesker from resident evil games but once he meets Sydeny Winslow he discovers he feel something he thought impossible. Love. I guess it's on the lines of a romantic thriller, it has pre world apocalypse, during the world apocalypse and the last has the fight to end and recover from the apocalypse.  But the main story line is West and Winslow and their love story,MIT truely has a happy ending, but the kind that makes you wonder.  It's a roller coaster of highs, lows, monsters, zombies, love, oh so much I really can't begin to write it all down. So I'm going to do my best to finish this one as novel number three. Then, maybe, as February is the months of love, I will do a complete romance, to coincide with valentines day.

So, that's the plan, along with a course I started I'm pretty busy, I have two letters to write to pen pals and I'm eagerly awaiting another from my best friend, check her blog out too ok, it's called a slave to the written word. I read it, her name is Kassie and she is such a good writer, while I'm big on dialogue and the characters thoughts, she is sooo good at inner thoughts and building the atmosphere, not to mention she's really good at erotica.   So check her out ok!

Happy New Year one and all

Hello and welcome to 2014! A year I hope tp be full to the brim with excitment and everything life has to throw at you!  What's life without a throwing or two?

Well to kick start our new year together I wanted to share a very special character with you, she is a goddess from my novel 'The Birth of Arcane.' The first part of my Nightshades series, she is the kind of character where she is mentioned, very important but doesn't have a psysical presents.  I was rethinking her name for the past few days you see, it was then I realised there was so much to her that needed to be added to her bio within the second chapter.  

So, here's what I have come up with and I hope you like her.

Shivva, Goddess of Man and the Academy

Shiva was created after the Gods united to cleanse the world of man.  To them the world of man had become too destructive, they were killing one another with guns, items of destruction etc, (Basically us now a days.) so they took it upon themselves to unite as never before, and I mean all of the Gods, every religion, old and new, young and old, every god and goddess descended on earth with their champions and troops and the human race was cleansed leaving those worthy.  Every city was decimated, leaders were taken from their thrones and the world was once more returned to a land with out machines.

After the cleansing was completed the Hall of Creation was made as a gathering place for all gods and goddess to meet and monitor the world below. To show their new found union they elected Ra as their leader and created a new goddess.  It was decided that she must be created with balance, that she was female as Ra believed with a male sitting on the union throne it would serve as balance that their sign of Union be female. So it was decided she was created thus:

The benevolent God and Goddesses gave her a kind nature and a loving heart, they wanted her to shower the humans with love always, to always have them come to her and feel the goodness in her.

Yet the malevolent God and Goddess made her body cold like ice in order to counter the benevolent gifts, they wanted her to seem fearsome.  They also made her loving heart vengeful, they did this to balance her kindness with a negative feeling.

While the males wanted her to be strong and have the skill to use all man and Godly made weapons, the females wanted her to be beautiful and possess the wisdoms of Godly power.

With these combinations Shivva was born, while all God and Goddess were in attendance, one was late, a Hindu Goddess, she was given the honour of naming the new Goddess. At the sight of the new born Goddess she felt a shiver, but not in fear or cold, it was a shiver in her heart.  She took this as a sign and named her Shivva..

So that is the Goddess Shivva, the Goddes of Shivva's Skill Academy. I hope you like her, she is very motherly and such a wonderful character.
